Dear Doctor: Toyota has come out with a new Corolla hatchback for 2019. Do you know anything about it’s driveability? Allen
Dear Allen: Toyota builds cars that people need and want. The Corolla hatchback is a front-wheel drive car with a Dynamic CVT and a launch gear. From a dead stop, such as at an intersection or stop light, the driver steps on the accelerator and there’s plenty of power due to the new transmission launch design. I’m not a fan of CVT-type transmissions, however they have gotten a lot better. A six-speed manual transmission is also offered on the 2019 Corolla hatchback.
