2007 Ford Freestyle slight virbration

Dear Doctor: I own an all-wheel drive 2007 Ford Freestyle with the CVT transmission and 50,000 miles. Love the vehicle except for low frequency noise and slight vibration accelerating from a stop. There’s also an annoying noise and vibration between 35 and 50 mph under light throttle. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a worn upper engine mount, replacement of which did not solve the problem. They realigned the exhaust system, also without success. I think it might be a drivetrain issue, but the dealer says no. What do you think? John

Dear John: This is a case of where you need to get a second opinion from an independent technician who has examined the vehicle. There have been some complaints on the CVT transmission for vibration related problems. Without actually driving the vehicle it’s hard to pinpoint the problem.
