2005 Chrysler Town & Country – power doors not working

Dear Doctor: I have a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan (long wheelbase), with nearly 99,000 miles on it. Recently, the electric door locks have stopped working on both the door switch and key fob. At the same time the alarm has stopped working. I have checked fuses and relays to no avail and cannot hear any noise from solenoids in the door panels. Can you steer me in the right direction to solve this problem? David


Dear David: Your minivan, like most late model vehicles, has a body control module that regulates many functions, including the alarm and power door locks. Your first step is to bring the minivan to a shop that has a compatible scan tool for the Chrysler vehicle. (The code reader types will not work for this service). The technician will be able to look into the system and actually see what is going on. In some cases the module may have to be reprogrammed.
