2003 Toyota Highlander window switch failure

Dear Doctor: I have a 2003 Toyota Highlander. Sometimes when I shut off the engine the driver’s side window automatically goes down (opens). I must then turn on the car again to raise the window. What’s the problem? Jeff

Dear Jeff: Toyota has a body control module, power limit switch, and jam protection that could be possible sources of the problem. There is also a reset procedure that needs to be followed whenever the battery is run down or replaced. Have the technician start with the reset procedure. This can be found on either the Alldata or Identifix Web sites. Both sites are for subscribers. Identifix is for automotive technician professionals. — Junior Damato, Motor Matters
